Boston Pride 2018

Saturday, June 9th, 2018 - 11:00AM

The Social Justice Council and the LGBTQ Awareness Task Force invite you to join us for Boston Pride on Saturday, June 9th. Last year we had a huge contingent that walked the full length of the parade route. This year, we are offering a different plan. We will attend the always inspirational pre-parade Pride service at 11 AM at the Arlington Street UU Church at 351 Boyleston Street, Boston. Following the service, those who are willing and able can march in the parade along with the Arlington Street Church contingent. Others may instead want to watch the parade and offer support to the... Read more

Annual Plant Sale

Sunday, May 13th, 2018 - 10:00AM to 1:00PM

Our Annual Plant Sale will take place in front of the carriage shed on Mother's Day—May 13th. The sale takes place rain or shine.

DONATIONS: We ask FPC gardeners and lovers of the earth for plants—lots of plants! Please look around your property for plants to donate to the sale. Plants that are different or unusual are especially desirable, the kinds of plants that if they weren’t already in your yard or garden, you yourself would like to buy. We seek shrubs, small trees, ground cover, herbs, perennials, and vegetable or flowering plants you may have started.

The Nields

Saturday, March 24th, 2018 - 7:30PM

Sisters Katryna and Nerissa Nield grew up singing folk songs in the kitchen and back seat of the family car.

“I remember I wrote my first song that I was really proud of when I was 13,” said Nerissa, “and right away I had a harmony for it, so I dragged Katryna out of her room and taught her the harmony.  It was instinct - I knew that my sister should be there.”

In the 90’s the Nields was a folk-rock band, with drums and electric guitars, and toured nationally.  These days it is usually two voices and one acoustic guitar.

Now well into... Read more

Racial Justice Book Discussion

Tuesday, February 13th, 2018 - 7:30PM

Michael Eric Dyson’s newest book, Tears We Cannot Stop, A Sermon to White America, is an inspiring work by a writer, sociologist and ordained Baptist minister. We are hosting a review of this important work on Tuesday, February 13, at 7:30 in the Community Room of the First Parish of Stow and Acton.

The book is structured as a church service. We will follow the authors ‘order of service” as he provides a discussion of how we need to deconstruct the myth of whiteness. He acknowledges that grappling with whiteness is difficult, but gives... Read more
