The Nields

Sisters Katryna and Nerissa Nield grew up singing folk songs in the kitchen and back seat of the family car.

“I remember I wrote my first song that I was really proud of when I was 13,” said Nerissa, “and right away I had a harmony for it, so I dragged Katryna out of her room and taught her the harmony.  It was instinct - I knew that my sister should be there.”

In the 90’s the Nields was a folk-rock band, with drums and electric guitars, and toured nationally.  These days it is usually two voices and one acoustic guitar.

Racial Justice Book Discussion

Michael Eric Dyson’s newest book, Tears We Cannot Stop, A Sermon to White America, is an inspiring work by a writer, sociologist and ordained Baptist minister. We are hosting a review of this important work on Tuesday, February 13, at 7:30 in the Community Room of the First Parish of Stow and Acton.

Special Holiday Vesper Service

Sunday, December 3rd, 2017 - 5:00PM

This Special Holiday Vesper Service will feature music about Mary. We will connect to both the well known biblical story of Mary as the mother of Jesus, but also hear folk tales about Mary's life from the German tradition, a devotional song from Cuba, and an invocation written after the 2003 tsunami asking for Mary's help in overcoming damage caused by storms and floods, which is a relevant concern for so many today.
