Video/Phone only service. The buildings are CLOSED due to the blizzard!

Rev. Justine Sullivan

Many of us in Unitarian Universalism have come out of other faith traditions often with a sense of anger or woundedness.  But as Rumi says, “the wound is where the light enters you.”  If we were able to let go of resentment about the past, what gifts might we receive from the faith of our childhood?  Whether you are a “come-outer” or a “cradle Unitarian Universalist,” might there may be pieces of your spiritual identity that you leave outside the door when you enter this meetinghouse?  Come, come whoever you are with all of who you are.

Rev. Justine Sullivan is an interim minister, currently serving our UU congregation in Brunswick
Maine. Justine grew up in Scituate, Massachusetts and got her start in church life playing and
singing at the “Folk Mass” on Saturday afternoons at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Scituate
Harbor. Justine found Unitarian Universalism as an adult after many years of being
unchurched. Prior to entering the ministry, Justine worked in high technology and as a social
worker and psychotherapist. Justine was ordained as a Unitarian Universalist minister in June
of 2017 by her home congregation in Northborough, MA. Justine and her wife Dale and dog
Callie split their time between Brunswick, Maine and Northborough, MA.

Spiritual Conversations Through Poetry       FPC Virtual Sunday Service

Poetry is an art form meant to stir something inside. Today, Sunday, Dec. 26, the Spiritual Conversations Through Poetry group at First Parish Church of Stow & Acton (FPC) will lead FPC’s Sunday service. Spiritual Conversations Through Poetry leads discussions at FPC about the journey a poem might take you on. During this service, we will read and listen to a poem and then, through insight and reflection, share what stirs inside each one of us. There will be just one service at 10 a.m. and it will be virtual. All are welcome and there’s no need to have experience reading or interpreting poetry.

There are no RE Classes or youth groups today.

This year with vaccinations for younger children still under way, it did not feel possible to do our traditional Mummer’s Play in quite the same way.  So this service will be a service celebrating the spirit of the Mummer’s Play, with a telling of St. George and the Dragon, and featuring short vignettes from the play performed by children and/or adults, both virtually and in person.  If you’re interested in participating, contact the minister.

To allow for social distancing, we are requiring advance requests to attend our services in person.  To request a spot, please fill out this form by Thursday at noon: https://fpcosna.breezechms.com/form/26dae8347547  We may be able to accomodate walk-ins on Sunday, but attendance for walk-ins is not guaranteed.

Service times: 9 AM by Reservation in the Sanctuary, 11 AM by Reservation or Virtual/Phone

Rev. Dr. Cynthia L. Landrum

This time of year can be hard for many people -- both for people who are struggling with loss or sadness in a time of seasonal joy, and for people for whom Christmas or Hanukkah are troubling theologically.  This service will be a service for all those who feel at odds with the season right now.

For this service in the time of Hanukkah, we invite our Jewish members to bring their Hanukkah menorahs for the altar and light them during our chalice lighting time, if they wish.

While we are asking for advance registrations most Sundays to order to make sure we can keep social distancing (https://fpcosna.breezechms.com/form/26dae834), this Sunday you're welcome to attend without registration.
