This Sunday we’re doing something we’ve never done before – broadcasting the service to FPC from our Ferry Beach Retreat! The service from Ferry Beach will be shared in the sanctuary, but because we have a one-direction broadcast from there, joys and sorrows will need to be sent in by email to caring@fpc-stow-acton.org for those not in Maine. Our service will be an informal camp-style service on the beauty and spirituality found in nature, and we can’t wait to share it with you!

On this Earth Day, April 23, we are reminded of how our lives are dependent upon, enriched, and nourished by the very ground we walk on and the air we breathe. This service will be a deep reflection on this sacred place we call home. The core of the service will be the FPC choir’s performance of Paul Winters’ Missa Gaia, which celebrates the whole earth by integrating world music with animal and bird songs from the wild. The choir will be joined by FPC’s Jazz Band. Readings and prayers from a variety of traditions will help deepen our commitment to Gaia’s preservation.

In Margery Williams’ The Velveteen Rabbit, the Skin Horse says, "Real isn't how you are made…It's a thing that happens to you. When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but REALLY loves you, then you become Real." We’ll celebrate the ways we become real in the spirit of Easter this year. And, as is the tradition at FPC, we’ll close our service with a group singing of the “Hallelujah Chorus” and have an egg hunt for the children following the service!
