Rev. Dr. Cynthia L. Landrum

Unitarian Universalists are often curious about religious history, and what the historical analysis tells us is likely to have really happened.  We’ll take a look at the birth narrative of Jesus through a historical lens on this day.

This service will include a recognition of World AIDS Day (December 1st).

Masks are required in the sanctuary, with the exception of being optional for speakers, soloists, and in the balcony.

Rev. Patricia Hatch, guest minister

Positivity can greatly enrich our lives and help us reframe the narratives we tell ourselves and others. And yet, there are times when a positive response is not what is needed, and can even cause harm. Rev. Patricia will reflect on the great, the good, and the ugly of positivity.

Rev. Patricia Hatch is the minister of the Unitarian Congregation of Mendon and Uxbridge. She also serves as a UU community minister with a specialization in rites of passage ceremonies. She has a Master of Divinity degree from Boston University. She enjoys poetry, nature, and inspiration of all kinds.

Rev. Dr. Cynthia L. Landrum

Unitarian Universalists often wrestle with holidays and traditions that honor the colonizing behavior of our past, and especially can find Thanksgiving to be a difficult holiday. While we continue to share elements of our Thanksgiving service, like the tradition of our junior youth breaking bread, this year’s service will focus more on the history of colonization and the treatment of Indigenous Peoples. We’ll learn more about our Land Acknowledgement and our past efforts and future plans, as well, and be joined by members of the team that created it, Aimee Snyder Ledwell and Mary Evans.

Masks are required in the sanctuary, with the exception of being optional for speakers, soloists, and in the balcony.

Things are changing all around. In this sermon just before the midterm elections, and as we’re coming back from pandemic, we’ll look at positive changes, negative changes, and how we respond as a faith community. We may also take a brief look at the UUA’s Article II Commission’s proposed revisions of the UUA principles.
