In the Sanctuary or Online/Phone

The 19th century Unitarian minister Theodore Parker once said "the moral arc of the universe is long but it bends towards justice."   As Unitarian Universalists, our theology and principles have demanded that we stand with the oppressed and on the side of love, freedom, and equality.   In many ways, even with all its historic struggles and setbacks, the US as a country has been "a rights expanding nation."   Often these changes did not happen quickly, but the arc continued to bend towards justice until the recent decision overturning the well established right of a woman to have an abortion.  It is the first time in modern history where the Supreme Court has taken a  long established right away.  Moreover, many other rights based on the same legal reasoning as Roe vs Wade are sure to be challenged and likely struck down. Many conservative religions have promoted, and will continue to promote, this attack on the rights of women, LGBTQ+ folks, and other minorities based on their repressive and controlling dogma and archaic scriptural interpretation.   Our own Rev. Tom will examine this assault on what most of those in our faith tradition hold dear, how it is a violation of our principles and history, and what we as members of a liberal faith tradition must do about it.

Childcare through grade 5 will be provided.
