FPC hosts the Morningstar Singers in this special service about building community and beginning reparations. The Morningstar Singers are a women’s traditional hand drum group from the United Native American Cultural Center in Devens, MA, that seeks to preserve and continue the beautiful tradition of women’s singing in native culture.

"Ministry as Improv"

- Rev. Darrick Jackson, Ministerial Credentialing Director, Unitarian Universalist Association 

So much is changing in our world, faith, and congregational lives. As we engage this changing reality, we need tools to help us meet the needs of this liminal time. Improvisation can provide us with a framework for ministry in these times. 

The Rev. Darrick Jackson (he/him) is the Ministerial Credentialing Director at the UUA. He is one of the authors in the book “Centering: Navigating Race, Authenticity and Power in Ministry.” Rev. Darrick is active in DRUUMM (the UU ministry for people of color) and is the treasurer for Healing Moments (a ministry for caregivers of people with Alzheimer’s). He is pursuing his D.Min in Theology and the Arts at the United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities. Rev. Darrick and his husband, Dr. James Olson, live with their two cats, Merlin and Morgana.

"Earth Day Service: Orca Resistance!"

What do these new discoveries tell us about the search for a divine power in the swirling cosmos? As the vastness of the universe becomes more and more strictly defined by scientific laws and theories, is there still room for God in the heavens?

As the second year of the process of revising Article II of the UUA Bylaws is underway, it’s worth looking at the meaning behind and the reasons for the shifts we’re undergoing. Why are we talking about replacing Principles with Values? This service will continue the exploration of the issues at stake in the upcoming vote in June.

"Bunnies, Eggs, and the Pagan Roots of Easter"

Underlying the Christian celebration of Easter are a number of traditions and elements that pull from older Pagan stories. This service will delve into the reasons why we carry these on, centuries later, and what they and the Christian story of Easter have to say to us today. A children’s egg hunt will follow the service!

"Potluck Vespers: Maundy Thursday"

Rev. Dr. Cynthia L. Landrum - Bring a vegetarian (and nut-free) soup or salad for our potluck, and join us in Fellowship Hall for a “dinner church” take on our traditional Maundy Thursday vespers. We’ll break bread together (Rev. Cindy will bring the literal bread), sing, and share in what it means to celebrate the Last Supper in remembrance.

"Living Our Covenant"

Landrum - Our church covenant says that Love is the spirit of this church and calls on us “to dwell together in peace, to seek the truth in love, and to help one another.” Our member John Kendrick asked Cindy, “Can we do a better job of communicating this covenant and mindset to the local community and attract more people to FPC?” This sermon will explore some answers!

"Finding Your People"

Johanna Ambrosio-LaPlante, Unitarian Society of Marlborough & Hudson - A 30-year member of the Unitarian Church of Marlborough and Hudson and president of its Executive Board, Johanna Ambrosio-LaPlante is currently being trained to provide practical support for people seeking abortions in our state. She’ll speak about her journey as a kid from a tough, blue-collar neighborhood who learned to embrace a larger, wider world without completely leaving her past behind.
