July 25 “Learning from a Class Perspective”

Join us for a panel discussion involving Laurie Proulx, Peter Cordone, Sue Stewart, and Meg Costello. We are all from blue collar families with various outlooks on how this background has carried us through life. In speaking about racial injustice, we believe it would be helpful for white folks to understand how class affects perspective, to more comfortably bridge and interact with those from different backgrounds

This service will be outside FPC & Zoom weather permitting

"Flower Communion" - Rev. Dr. Cynthia L. Landrum
This service will be both outside, weather permitting, and on Zoom.

Bring a flower -- or a few -- to share, and take a flower in exchange as we honor the UU ritual of "Flower Communion."  If the weather permits, join us on the FPC lawn or in your car, bringing your flower, your lawn chair or a blanket to sit on, and a radio to listen to the service at our station at 107.7.  Some radios will be available to borrow.  If the weather is rainy, the service will be on Zoom, which is available either way as an option, and still can be heard through our radio system.  Watch your FPC Announce for how the Flower Communion itself might work in times of rain, which is probably a drive-through option following the service at a designated time.  This service will also feature a time to say goodbye to our Music Director, Mike Pfitzer, and honor his ten years of service to FPC.

FPC Joins the UU Church of Kent, Ohio for this Sunday!

"Where Memory Presses Green Land"

Rev. Steven Protzman

For Memorial Day weekend, FPC will be joining the Unitarian Universalist Church of Kent, Ohio at their service!

In his poem "Silenced Cries" James Coburn writes about the 1921 Tulsa Massacre and the racially motivated destruction of the Greenwood area, known as "Black Wall Street". He says " What do I know but clouds of smoke once rose where memory presses green land." On this, the 100th anniversary of the massacre, we will tell the rarely heard story of this event and reflect on the work we are called to do to end racism in our country.

We will be guests at the Kent, Ohio congregation, so there will be some differences from our regular service.  UUCK opens their doors at 9:45 for their 10am service, requires your name as part of their waiting room process but will help you change your screen name like we do, has breakout groups before the service to chat, and uses the chat box for sharing joys and sorrows.  We will not be posting an order of service, but will post an annoucements document.
