Vespers Service in the Sanctuary 7 PM

We will reflect on the autumn season with words, music, candles, and shared silence. You are invited to bring a poem or short reading to share that captures the spirit of the season for you. Vespers is a 45 minute service that is a peaceful, meaningful way to end the day. Trish Woods will provide music. Worship Committee members Sophie Wadsworth, Ann Gillespie, and Kevin O’Brien will lead the service.

Childcare will be available in lower Fellowship Hall.

A summertime hike up Katahdin and the 200th anniversary of Thoreau's birth prompt this meditation on the meaning of mountains in our religious life.

Rev. Andrea Greenwood will be our guest minister. Andrea is a UU minister who has served congregations in Atlanta, GA, and Watertown, MA, where she currently lives with her husband, the Rev. Mark Harris. They have produced four sons and one book together, An Introduction to the Unitarian and Universalist Traditions.

This service will honor our ancestors with a ritual of remembrance. You are invited to bring a memento of someone you wish to honor. The ritual will include a time to bring mementos forward, light candles, and say aloud the names we honor. Rev. Tracey Robins-Harris will share reflections on that Great Cloud of Witnesses.

We welcome Mary Esther Johnson to our pulpit. Mary is the facilitator for the Beyond Categorical Thinking workshop, part of the Ministerial Search process, taking place today. The workshop helps us explore ideals,assumptions and prejudices that may impact the choice of the next minister. Mary's sermon will help prepare us for the workshop this afternoon in Fellowship Hall.

We welcome Toby Smith Ropeik to First Parish Church. Toby is the UUA Ministerial Settlement Representative supporting the congregation's Ministerial Search Committee. Toby's sermon is entitled, "Top Ten Myths About The Ministerial Search." Toby will be available following the 9 AM service to answer questions. Members of the Search Committee will be available following the 11 AM service.

2 Services in the Sanctuary

Welcome back! This will be our first Sunday with Interim Minister, The Rev. Tracey Robinson-Harris. Her sermon, "Beginning in Gratitude", draws on her story of finding this faith, being saved by it, and coming to know it as both inheritance and legacy.

OPEN HOUSE FOR ANYONE WHO MIGHT BE INTERESTED IN LEARNING MORE ABOUT FIRST PARISH OF STOW & ACTON, Please come to either the first or second service, or both if you wish and then join us in our Community Room to learn more about all that First Parish Church has to offer. Tours will be available along with information on the many Programs and Groups available. We will also have a special Meet and Greet with our Interim Minister, Rev. Tracey Robinson-Harris! FPC, please bring anyone who you think might be interested, including friends and neighbors.
