Choosing to become a member of the First Parish Church of Stow and Acton (FPC) means that you believe this community makes a difference in your life, giving it greater strength, depth, significance, and direction. It means you have a sense of belonging and commitment to the liberal religious values this congregation represents. It means willingness to support our congregation with ideas, energy, time, and money, so that these values can be realized in the world.

We hold occasional New Member ceremonies, held either privately or in a Sunday service, during which you can sign our membership book and be welcomed into the life of our church community. Individuals who have completed eighth grade or reached age 18 may sign the Membership Book. Members are entitled to vote about important issues facing our congregation at the Annual Meeting held in the spring, and any other (occasional) official congregational meetings. If you are interested in knowing when the next New Member Sunday will be held, or scheduling a private ceremony, please email office@fpc-stow-acton.org.

FPC, like all UU congregations, is self-governing. Our members make all major decisions about our congregation's life, in particular calling a new minister and determining the congregation budget. We encourage you to become a member after taking the time to ensure that our community is a good fit for you.   

If you are interested in learning more or joining FPC, we suggest that you complete the following steps:

• Attend several Sunday services. Our services do not always follow the same format, and you will no doubt observe a variety of different services over a period of time! 
• Attend one of our occasional Newcomer Coffee times which is also a great opportunity to ask questions.
• Attend or participate in a few church-sponsored activities. It may be helpful to try one social activity and one spiritual or educational activity.
• Attend the "FPC Journey" Workshop(s) (Formerly called "New 2 UU").  The FPC Journey Workshop(s) share information about our congregation's activities, practices, and organization; UU and FPC history; UU Principles and Values; the larger Unitarian Universalist Association; and the unique opportunities our congregation has to offer. 
• Sign the Membership Book!
