The 1619 Project Registration

The FPC Racial Justice Group will present 1619 this winter (2022) as a Zoom webinar.

From the 1619 Podcast site:

In August of 1619, a ship carrying more than 20 enslaved Africans arrived in the English colony of Virginia. America was not yet America, but this was the moment it began. No aspect of the country that would be formed here has been untouched by the 250 years of slavery that followed. On the 400th anniversary of this fateful moment, it is time to tell the story. “1619” is a New York Times audio series hosted by Nikole Hannah-Jones. You can find more information about it at nytimes.com/1619podcast.

The podcast has 6 episodes and each session will be on a Wednesday evening at 7:00 PM. The dates are Jan 26, Feb 2, Feb 9, Feb 16, Mar 2, and Mar 9. Please plan to attend all the sessions.

We will listen to the podcast together and break for discussion at strategic points. The class is limited to 16 people. Please complete the form below to register. The Zoom link will be provided shortly before the class starts.
