RELIGIOUS EDUCATION VOLUNTEERING

Ours is a cooperative program and as such, it is run entirely by volunteers (with the exception of our paid staff, Director of Religious Education and Youth Coordinator).  For our program to succeed, we need many volunteers!  We would like ALL parents of children in the RE program to offer their time as Assistants for a few classes.  It's a great way to learn about the RE program, see what your kids are up to, and to get to know their friends and other parents at church.  Once you have become familiar with the RE Program through participating as an assistant, we ask that you volunteer your time as a Class Teacher, or in some other capacity, for a portion of the year.  We provide training, mentoring, written curriculum and other resources as support for all of our volunteers.

In addition, we welcome all congregational members, whether or not they have children in the program, to offer their talents to help us prepare these wonderful children for a thoughtful, spiritual, and socially active life!

Some of the volunteer opportunities that are available in the program include:

  • Teachers, Substitute Teachers, or One-on-One Assistants
  • Enrichment Day Leaders, Assistants and Coordinators – to coordinate and run special RE events
  • Nursery Assistants
  • "Sunday Supports" (help DRE on Sunday mornings)
  • Religious Education Committee Members
  • Youth Group Advisors
  • OWL Leaders
  • Coming of Age Mentors

For additional information on volunteer opportunities in the RE program, please see our Director of Religious Education or any member of the RE Committee.
