We need your help to make the 300+ pies for this fall’s Apple Pie Fundraiser! We need apple collectors, peelers, bakers, baggers, and sellers…no experience necessary. Training and camaraderie will be provided! FPC’s apple pies are a long-standing tradition as a fundraiser, fun group project, and culinary delight and require lots of volunteers to make it successful. This is a great way to kick-off the church year, make new friends, and reconnect with old ones.
We need volunteers to:
MAKE CRUST: 7 pm, Tuesday nights Sept. 18, 25, and Oct. 2 and 9. Join the dough team in the Fellowship Hall kitchen to learn what makes the FPC pie crusts so special. This is a great activity for adults and their tweens/teens. Contact Rebecca Stadolnik (978-897-8371) for more information.
COLLECT APPLES: Wednesdays or Thursdays in Sept. including 19-20, 26-27, and Oct. 3-4 and 10-11. We need several people, or families, to collect dropped apples at Shelburne Farms. Timing is flexible as long as the apples are delivered to the vestry by 5:00 Thursday evening. Contact Steve Evans (firstname.lastname@example.org) for more information and to get apple collecting bags and directions.
PEEL APPLES: Thursday evenings, Sept. 20, and 27 and Oct. 4 and 11 starting at 6:00 pm in the vestry. Each week we need 15-20 people to peel apples and 2 volunteers to coordinate the set up and clean up (arrive early, set up, make sure everything is clean and put away afterwards). This is a great way to meet other FPCers and to sit and chat for an hour or two. Bring your peeler…the more the merrier! Contact Liz Moseley (email@example.com or 978-897-4930) for more information.
BAKE PIES: Friday mornings, Sept. 21, 28, and Oct. 5 and 12, anytime between 6:30 am and 12:00 pm. We are seeking new bakers - no experience required! Consider helping out after the kids get off to school in the morning. We need people to roll pie crust, fill pies, crimp crust, and do quality control (wink wink). Contact Rebecca Stadolnik (978-897-8371) for more information.
BAG PIES: Friday evenings, Sept. 21, 28, and Oct. 5 and 12 at 7:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall. We need 2-3 people each week to bag the pies and attach labels once the pies are cooled. Contact Rebecca Stadolnik (978-897-8371) for more information.
SELL PIES: Saturdays & Sundays, Sept. 22-23, 29-30 and Oct. 6-7, from 9:45 am-1:00 pm (if you can’t do the whole shift, sign up for 9:45 to 11 am or 11am-1 pm). We will also be selling pies at the FPC fair on 10/13 (keep an eye out for info on Fair Volunteering later in September). Contact Rebecca Stadolnik (978-897-8371) for more information.
We really need every person’s help. If you can volunteer to make crust, collect or peel apples, or bake, bag, or sell pies, contact the folks above (or Rebecca Stadolnik at 978-897-8371), email firstname.lastname@example.org, sign up online (link at bottom), or see Rebecca at coffee hour. Come join the fun!
